To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

I’m a huge fan of integration. Any time you can integrate an external program into your NLE, it’s a good thing. It lets us do more in our timelines, without having to leave it, which means we can get our jobs done quicker than ever before.

Adobe Summit EMEA 2016 – Sneaks

Sneaks are always a popular session at Adobe Summit. If you’re not familiar with the Sneaks session, it’s where our data scientists take center stage and give us all a preview of what they’re cooking up in Adobe’s research labs. Although each Sneak demo is only about four minutes long, it represents work that has been months — or maybe even years — in the making.  While we’ve got thousands of engineers at Adobe doing a lot of amazing things, only a select few projects will e...

By Randi Altman I imagine many editors have at some point in their careers considered what it would be like to direct some of the projects they cut — to get up from the workstation and get behind the camera. Well, based on that scenario, Butcher’s Dave Henegar can be considered a very lucky man. Continue reading →May 11, 2016

Maybe this is helpful for using the Avid Relink Command and supporting assets that have embedded in the hour timecode field a value of 24 or greater. For those types of Master Clip Ingested Assets, in Avid Media Composer, relinking using start timecode selection does not work, using the same value in Auxiliary TC works.

A few months ago Avid proudly put out a press release about how they just hired 250 new employees to staff new facilities in the Philippines, Taiwan and Poland, and how they would save $68 million as a result. Oh, and by the way, that was at the expense of closing down offices and downsizing its staff in the U.S.
