To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Hey Adobe, how about that video focused Production

When Adobe ditched the “boxed software” model of pay one price get the product forever and moved to a monthly subscription model the outcry was loud. Some loved it. Many hated it. There were more level headed critiques. Most of use were more like: whatever … how much and is this software good? From the video production perspective it is good, even great, software tools that Adobe is creating these days. But while installing CC on a new laptop the other day I couldn’t help but wish we...

Editing Connect On-premise Email Send Source Optio

February 22, 2014, 06:56 AM

http://blogs.adobe.com/connectsupport/editing-conn...

Adobe Connect hosted customers have long enjoyed the option of having their Connect account administrative email sent out to users on behalf of a specified email source rather than the system email parameter configured during installation of the Connect server.  In order to exploit this option for on-premise Connect deployments, you first need to apply the following SQL update statement.  This will  add a row into the pps_account_features table: insert into PPS_ACCOUNT_FEATURES (ACCOUNT_I...

Talking Editing with the 2014 Oscar Nominees

Editorially, all five films take us out of our comfort zones in this strange season of survival and rebirth: from the chameleon-like con of "American Hustle" to the abduction at sea in "Captain Phillips" to the weightless terror of "Gravity" to the ticking clock death sentence of "Dallas Buyers Club" to the horror of having your life and liberty snatched away in "12 Years a Slave." I got an insider's view from Jay Cassidy ("American Hustle"), Christopher Rouse ("Captain Phillips"), John Mac McMu...

Our friend Adam Pertofsky at Rock Paper Scissors has been busy these last few months. Since we last talked with him, he’s completed the third part of the Captain Morgan series of commercials and cut three additional spots, one of which aired during the Super Bowl. We took a few minutes to catch up with him on his recent projects and use of Adobe Creative Cloud.

Jupiter

Everyone in filmmaking has seen Space Odyssey. And everyone remembers HAL and Dave. Probably the monolith. And certainly the Jupiter sequence. Except editors. Editors naturally remember THE cut. Maybe the ultimate, most famous one. Ever. Bone to spaceship.
