It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Last week we talked about what makes SATA Express important and showed off some performance benchmarks of the ASUS Hyper Express SATA Express External Enclosure. We’ve been able to acquire our own ASUS Hyper Express drive and we spent this week trying it out on our own systems to see how it performed on one of our own systems.

Do you remember when we used to discuss the picture quality of an NLE? Believe it or not that was a big deal. Sean Lander and I discuss the old days and the various points in tech history where giant changes were made and some people got left behind. Sean also talks about how in FCPX he is “Always in the zone”.

He then use Boris Continuum Complete 9 Corner Pin plug-in to import the track data into both Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Both mocha AE v3 and mocha Pro v3 support BCC tracking data imports.

Apple has altered the expected shipping times on its standard Mac Pro configurations down to 3-4 weeks, an improvement over the recent drop to 3-5 weeks seen in late April. Apart from a short window when the units were first announced, the new ship times are the best yet seen for Apple's thoroughly-redesigned workstation computer. At the beginning of April, ship times for the Mac Pro were estimated at five to six weeks, showing steady improvement towards supply-demand balance.

With the release of FCPX 10.1 a new retiming effect has been introduced. It is the Jump Cut effect. This effect gets a bit overlooked due to folks misunderstanding exactly what it does, so I'm going to attempt to explain how it all works.
