To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

It's easy to create a voice that sounds similar to that of Stephen Hawking. All you need to do is use the Generate Speech option in Adobe Audition CC and then slightly modulate that result to create a Stephen Hawking style computer generated voice over.

Take a listen as James talks about the mic and then creates a track using only the V13 and a single mic preamp.

Adobe demos "photoshop for audio"

Adobe has demonstrated tech that lets you edit recorded speech so that you can alter what that person said or create an entirely new sentence from their voice. It seems inevitable that it will eventually be referred to as "photoshop but for audio."

Adobe VoCo Review

November 7, 2016, 06:32 AM

https://www.aotg.com/adobe-voco-review/

Adobe VoCo (aka Project Voco) from Adobe Research and Princeton University is going to change the way you edit a voice over session. You'll be able to change the words a voiceover says simply by typing or by copy, cut and paste. The same as you would do in a word processor apart from the fact that the waveform is updating in real time. It's like Photoshop for voiceovers which means we should be aware that a voice may be "Photoshopped" by Adobe VoCo.

As the year continues, many of these posts will be philosophical in nature. Some will be in contradiction to previous postings. These are not intended as truths or assertions, they’re merely thoughts…ideas. Think of this as stream of consciousness over a wide span… While driving through the hills the other day, I risked taking my […]

Zoom F4 Audio Recorder First Impressions

Last year Zoom took their first step into more professional filmmaker field recorders with the Zoom F8. And now they have just released a younger sibling, the Zoom F4. The F4, at the time of release, sells for $650 USD, has 4 microphone/line inputs, and records 8 tracks simultaneously. The preamplifiers seem very, very impressive in my first tests and there’s a lot more to cover so grab your favorite beverage and let’s have a look at the Zoom F4!
