To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

G-Technology: G-RAID vs G-DRIVE

So Shane walks up to me a few days ago and says: “Hey David, we need to talk about on-set workflow, specifically with the use of G-Raids. We need to get people to see what is important in their workflow as DITs on set and why these drives make a difference, especially when people are buying the G-Drives instead of the G-Raids, since the G-Drives are cheaper.”

Day 25 #28daysofquicktips - Consolidate Media Outs

Final Cut Pro X has some rather intricate media management capabilities built into its Library functionality. The Library concept itself is loved by some, hated by others. I think if you understand how you can move media in and out of a Library it might embrace one the concept (thought you still might choose to always leave media outside of a Library). I finally understand it a little bit better but it wasn’t without some study.

Well I guess Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon because working on R&S was the only goal I had in life at the time. I thought it was impossible since it had been off the air for nearly a decade. It was one of the worst experiences emotionally, but I met so many talented people and it made me practice harder. 2nd would be Spongebob. I feel like I wasn’t a good artist until that job.

Dreamworks Lost An Insane Amount Of Money

Back in 2013, the release of Dreamworks Animation's Rise Of The Guardians was met with a thud and a crack in its opening weekend. While the film wound up managing to make a decent gross, compared to its budget at least, it wound up being the beginning of a dangerous spiral for DWA's profit margin.
