To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

More 4K

http://digitalfilms.wordpress.com/2014/09/27/more-...

I’ve talked about 4K before (here, here and here), but I’ve recently done some more 4K jobs that have me thinking again. 4K means different things to different people and in terms of dimensions, there’s the issue of cinema 4K (4096 pixels wide) versus the UltraHD/QuadHD/4K 16:9 (whatever you want to call it) version of […]

There are some movie milestones—first animated feature, first science fiction film, first on-screen death—that are so well known that they will be forever talked about in the realms of movie history. But other cinematic firsts tend to go unnoticed even though they’re also extremely important and deserve just as much attention.

The creepiest moments in Alfred Hitchcock's films usually don't involve blood or gore, but rather a telling look in the characters; eyes and that fills our hearts with dread. Video essayist :: kogonda explores these same moments in his newest mashup for the Criterion Collection, "The Eyes of Hitchcock."

At this year’s Comic-Con, the makers of the new stop-motion animated movie, The Boxtrolls, were unusually honest about the stress of making their film. Normally, at a panel in front of 6,000 people, filmmakers like to talk about how well everyone got along and how much fun the production was and how they easily overcame any obstacles.

Quick Chat: Aardman’s EP Heather Wright

By Randi Altman At first blush, when people think of Aardman Animations, they might imagine clay-animated, stop-motion projects such as Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run or even Peter Gabriel’s music video Sledgehammer. But that type of work is only a part of Aardman’s current offerings, which are now almost evenly divided, with 60 percent of […]The post Quick Chat: Aardman’s EP Heather Wright appeared first on postPerspective - Randi Altman's postPerspective.
