It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Western Digital SSD Dashboard is used to manage the company’s drives (which includes SanDisk products), featuring useful disk information, ways to optimize and sanitize/clean your SSD, and easy point-and-click firmware updates. At first glance, we noticed that the interface has a much more modern look than most other SSD drive management tools we’ve looked at. It sports a nice blue background with an intelligent panel-layout design along the bottom. Navigating through sections is easy, respo...

I have been covering Adobe Rush ever since it was in beta in June 2018. I really want to love it, but it’s hard when they keep screwing up the audio. In the video world, we have an absolute standard which means that the audio sampling must always be at 48 kHz (or some higher multiple), never at 44.1 kHz. Other iOS and Android apps handle this correctly, including Auphonic, Cinema FV–5, FiLMiC Pro, MoviePro and RØDE Reporter.

For a start, ‘Parasite’ wasn’t cut on Avid, which has dominated the Academy Awards of late. Indeed, in 2020 the vast majority of Oscar-nominated movies were cut on the software, but two that weren’t are well worth highlighting. ‘Parasite’ was cut on Final Cut Pro 7 and ‘The Irishman’ was cut on Lightworks.

https://nofilmschool.com/15-premiere-pro-secrets
I've seen dozens of videos sharing "Premiere Pro Secrets" online. While they are great tips for any Premiere Pro user, the unfortunate thing about most of the "secrets" is that they are quite obvious. Things like "you can display safe margins" or "you can create and attach proxy files." They're quite common to anyone who has worked with the program. So I decided to create a three part series of tips for anyone seeking more advanced techniques in Premiere Pro. Here's are 15 tips you may not alrea...

Winning an Academy Award makes you feel like you're ruler of the world, at least for the rest of Oscar night. Taiki Waititi, winning a gong for best adapted screenplay, started issuing demands of his favorite technology company shortly after leaving the stage. When asked by reporters about the forthcoming Writers' Guild of America negotiations, the director focused his ire on Apple. Specifically, its keyboards, which the director says are "impossible to write on."

You can always count on a good dose of quirkiness from writer/director Taika Waititi, director of films including Thor Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit. Last night Waititi took home the Academy Award for the Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on Jojo Rabbit, but during his backstage Q&A Waititi used some of his time in the Oscar spotlight to address a cause apparently important to him: the horrible keyboards on some of Apple’s MacBooks.
