To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Alex4D Trim works in the same way as the trim mode of the crop effect, with an extra. You can blur all the edges using the Overall Feather parammeter, and have additional individual feather values for each edge of the trim.

In the second part of this two part tutorial on creating a basic run cycle (or walk cycle) in After Effects, Andrew Devis continues where he left off in the first tutorial by showing how to use a simple expression to save a great deal of time and effort when key-framing you characters. Andrew demonstrates how this saves time and allows for easy and pain free adjustments of the keyframes.

This keyboard shortcut saves you hours when trimming clips. When an edit point is selected, you can move the edit point one frame to the left, or right, using the comma, or period, keys.

FCPX: How to edit on a different computer

Move the project, deleting it from its current location and putting it in a new location. Copy the project, duplicating the project in it's original and new location. You can store project and event files on a storage area network (SAN) location. You can then access them from another computer over the network.

A quiet day in the FCP and FCPX world

Maybe it's because we are having an Indian summer over here in Europe and everybody might have taken the day off, but it's very quiet on the FCPX news front. A good opportunity to post a rather excellent video that uses pictures and sound perfectly.

32TB of RAIDs for sale

As many of you know we've recently upgraded our main SAN to a 48TB Small Tree ST RAID II thus freeing up some of our older units. Obviously, these have been very well cared for in a Post Production machine room environment and have performed excellently for us in both RAID 0 and RAID 5 modes. Most recently we've run them all in RAID 5, we just don't need them anymore so hopefully they can help you out.

The future's so bright...
