To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Debra Kaufman, who recently became the associate editor at Creative Cow Magazine, has posted a terrific conversation with editor Dan Lebental, who just completed "Cowboys and Aliens." Interviews with editors can sometimes be pretty dull, but this one is different. Check it out here.

Give Apple Feedback on FCPX, Officially

For some time after Apple released Final Cut Pro X out into the world, there was no official way to give feedback to Apple. Version 10 simply wasn't listed yet on the company's feedback form. Now FCPX has its own feedback page (say goodbye to FCP7 feedback).

Inside FCP X there hints of features that have yet to be fully implemented, or have been dropped and never to be made available. There’s no way of knowing which is which, but it's interesting to get inside and have a look around.

How to Make FCPX More Like FCP7

Apple unleashed a firestorm of controversy following the release of Final Cut Pro X, with professional video editors up in arms over missing features and the inability to open legacy project files. As it turns out, some of the so-called "missing features" are simply tucked away in the new FCPX user interface...

The Cure for Rolling Shutter?

One of the highlights of NAB 2011 for me was having an opportunity to sit down with Sr. Product Manager for Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium and Adobe Audition, Ellen Wixted. Ellen took some time out of her busy schedule to visit with us, and tell us why the latest creative suite is the answer to the problem of rolling shutter.

Am I avidly avid about Avid?

Since the beginning of Final Cut Pro Xmageddon (or should it be FCPXpocalypse?), I’ve been looking to see how the other post production software vendors would respond. It's not often that a large corporation such as Apple would make itself so publicly vulnerable about a popular product. I believe the opportunity is there due to Apple’s long standing "no talkie to anyone from the public or apparently anyone who is editing a current film or television show...

It's been almost one month since Apple launched it’s "revolutionary" editing software, Final Cut Pro X. However, editors from around the world still have dozens of questions regarding FCPX. Thankfully, ProVideoCoalition.com lists questions asked during a Final Cut X webinar, as well as their answers. Looks like some very helpful answers. To view the whole ...

In this advanced Premiere Pro tutorial, Andrew Devis shows how to use the parametric equaliser in Premiere Pro and for CS5.5 in Audition and for CS4/5 in Soundbooth. The parametric eq is a simply and effective way to affect a whole series of frequencies in you audio to quickly and efficiently sweeten (or un-sweeten depending on what you want to do) your audio.
