It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

First, an apology for that crime against music that was the Artful Dodger featuring Craig David. Ouch. Secondly, why? I've been watching the West Wing recently, right from Season 1 because I missed it first time it was on and because, after watching the Social Network I was in the mood for a bit more...

Earlier this month Avid and the Association of Independent Creative Editors (AICE) hosted the latest in our series of "Situation Room" events. The Situation Room typically takes place every six months and was created to foster two-way dialogue between Avid and the creative community of editors, facility owners and producers.

I didn't always use Final Cut Pro, and I didn't start using it from version 1. I was a late convert. I started out using Avid Media Composer. But I did start using it after version 3 came out.

There are a ton of resources on lower thirds. Here's a sampling of some free templates and tutorials that help leverage or create them in After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere—and some to automate their production.

We don't use ink to express our opinions any more, which is a shame. If we did, I could start this out by talking about the ocean of ink that's been spilled on Final Cut Pro X over the past couple of days, and how hardly a drop of it has been positive, and how Apple deserves every last speck and spatter of it.

When we first released CrumplePop Lumineux, we annouced it would be compatible with the new Final Cut Pro X. If you’re wondering exactly how it works, look no further. Lumineux is just as easy to use within the new final cut. Much like Final Cut 6 and 7, it only takes a few steps:
