It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Dear ACE Members, As you may have heard, Martin “Marty” Cohen — a beloved member of the postproduction community who during his career headed post at Amblin Entertainment, DreamWorks and Paramount — died Sunday of natural causes after a battle with heart disease. Remembered as not just a colleague but a friend and mentor who helped launch many careers. It is in the spirit of mentorship that Marty’s family — his wife, Kathy, his daughter, Maggie, and two granddaughters, Alexis and...

I’ve reviewed SOUND FORGE a number of times over the years, most recently in 2017. Since its initial development, it has migrated from Sonic Foundry to Sony Creative Software and most recently Magix, a German software developer. Magix’s other products are PC-centric, but SOUND FORGE comes in both Mac and Windows versions. The updated 3.0 […]

By 2014 After Effects was roughly 21 years old. The list of improvements and new features added since the release of version 1 is impressive, and in many cases it’s impossible to imagine working without some of the tools we now take for granted. It’s hard to believe that the first release of After Effects [...]Read More...

Editors often shy away from final color correction. However, the budget on many projects doesn’t include room for a dedicated colorist. Maybe it’s time you learned the right way to perform a grading session, instead of just playing with sliders and color wheels. Moviola.com’s color correction course will get you up to speed in just [...]Read More...

By Craig Ellenport One thing viewers learned from watching The Last Dance — ESPN’s 10-part documentary series about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls — is that Jordan might be the most competitive person on the planet. Even the slightest challenge led him to raise his game to new heights.
