It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

The Mac Pro redesign of 2019 was one of the biggest overhauls of an Apple product since — well, ever. Nothing was left untouched, from the exterior design to the internal components. Yet nothing made Mac enthusiasts salivate more than Apple’s promise of extensive modularity.

If you’re a user of Rubber Monkey Software’s handy FilmConvert Nitrate plugin, and if you’re also using Apple’s Final Cut Pro latest version 10.5.2 as you’re NLE of choice, and you’re working with a recent M1 (aka Apple Silicon) powered Mac, then you should read this very carefully, as there seems to be a problem (and fortunately a workaround solution).

NUGEN Audio Q&A with Acclaimed Record Producer, Music Director and Music Supervisor Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself. A: I’m originally from Ohio, where I owned a commercial room 50 miles south of Cleveland for nearly 20 years, but I’ve been in New York for over a decade now. I grew up playing piano. I had a piano teacher who was also a recording artist and he always brought me into sessions, and I was lucky enough to be working professionally in high school. I really cut my t...

This new service, called Frame.io C2C, is a pretty disruptive new approach to quickly and securely transferring footage directly from the camera to the cloud, so clients, editors and other collaborators can instantly review what’s happening on set and start working on footage.

It’s a year on from the start of the pandemic shutdown and we revisit the topic of remote editing with a panel of industry experts. Specifically, we look at how to do this right, now that remote editing has become a semi-permanent part of post production life. We cover desktop streaming, locally hosted media solutions, sneakernet, multi-site synchronization, remote collaboration, cloud computing and cloud storage, and a host of other topics.
