To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Movie editor ADAM GARSTONE finds out what really works and what really doesn't in the latest update to Apple's FCPX editor I love Apple gear. Not as a 'fan-boy' - I certainly don't believe that they can do no wrong - but, for me, in the things I need to do every day, Apple's products work better than any other.

On Tuesday January 31st Apple released it's third update for Final Cut Pro X, numbered 10.0.3. This update brings us several new features including Multicam editing, broadcast output, graphic file layer support, and more. In this article I'm going to take a closer first hand look at these. I'm testing the new feature on a 2008 8 core Core Mac Pro, 16GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4870, AJA Kona LHi, Flanders Scientific LM-2451W, with P2 DVCPRO-HD and DSLR H.264 video files. For more details about how...

I haven't had any time to properly work with the new 10.0.3 version of FCPX, although I did apply the upgrade the day it came out. The first thing it did when I tried to open a recent project, it crashed, but we will not let that influence anything here today.

Time is Money: Using the El Gato Turbo.264

When you are working in a fast paced corporate environment every second counts. With all the work I'm doing in this space lately I've found that the El Gato Turbo.264 really helps when you have to deliver on time and on budget. Each week I'm tasked with directing a couple of short marketing videos. In order to meet the requirements we have to shoot and edit the first 2 days of the week. Part of keeping your clients happy is by keeping your process very transparent.

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL ) unleashed a storm of anger across the professional video world last summer when it released the replacement for its popular Final Cut Pro editing program. (For examples of the negative reaction, go here.) This article is the first of three that will go over what happened and what it may mean for Apple and its two main rivals in the realm of video editing.

FCPX 10.0.3 tip: Use any title template...

February 1, 2012, 11:24 PM

http://alex4d.wordpress.com/2012/02/01/fcpx_set_de...

This tip gives you control over the default titles you can add to your projects using new menu commands in Final Cut Pro 10.0.3. It requires you to go deep inside your copy of FCP and make a simple change. If you have Motion, you can modify a title template you use often and make that new template your default title.
