I will first credit the one who inspired me to even think it possible, what I’m about to describe. This man has actually influenced me a lot over the years, and my last blog post about Avid’s ScriptSync wouldn’t have happened had I not seen this guy give a presentation about ScriptSync some years back. Anyway, I first met Steve Audette in 1998 at one of Avid’s Master Editor Workshops.

Here's the first part to my interview with Mark Livolsi. Mark has cut for such directors as Cameron Crowe and worked on such films as Wedding Crashers and The Devil Wears Prada. The interview took place in August during Edit Fest 2009.

He has re-edited Orson Welle's 1958 film Touch of Evil. At the time of the film's initial release the studio remixed the film to Welle's displeasure. He fired off a letter with suggested changes. With those notes as their guide, Murch and re-edit producer Rick Schmidlin have reconstructed the film to Well's intentions.
