To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Motion 5 and Final Cut Pro X Leak

June 9, 2011, 12:23 PM

Some screenshots of what looks to be a new version of Motion, as well as new screengrabs of some Final Cut Pro X dialogs were leaked via Twitter today. What’s interesting about the Motion shots is the addition of a new rigging feature. Speculation is "rigging" could have to do with importing or creating 3-D rigged models (a la Shake?), or possibly the ability to combine a number of settings into a preset that is set up in Motion and then accessed elsewhere within the Final Cut Studio apps.

There had been a number of people saying that Final Cut Pro X would ship today (though I was never able to find out where that date came from.) Unfortunately, so far there's no sign of it.

You've seen the Supermeet sneak peek; you've heard Larry Jordan tell what we know about Final Cut Pro X, now hear Philip Hodgetts' expose of what we don't know! Want to know about the technology, project format, plug-ins and much of the rest of what Apple hasn't announced yet? Philip has been researching and writing about what Apple has been up to with Final Cut Pro X for the last year or more, and has been "scary accurate." Useful Tools for Editors: 6 Free FCP Transitions

Is there anyone who doesn't love a few free plug-ins? Of course not ... especially when they are actually useful. A tweet came in the other day that pointed to some free transitions for Final Cut Pro. The plug-ins in question come from a site called FilmImpact. I'm not really sure who the proprietor of the new site is, other than Jaap H. Boerhof, who cheerfully tells visitors on the home page to "cut to the chase and download professional plug-ins for free."
