To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

These green lights control more than audio and video. Did you know that the visibility lights also have an effect on the behavior of the up/down arrow keys?

There’s more than one way to manipulate audio in Media Composer (no surprise there, there’s more than one way to do pretty much anything in MC). So this week, we’ll explore Automation Gain, more often referred to as Audio Keyframes. You’ll learn how to use this feature as well as what its benefits (and disadvantages) are compared to regular audio editing.

A little birdie asked me quite recently. "Really, what is the big deal about FCP?" Especially now, with Avid growing in leaps with every new release. So I pondered... What really is the big deal with FCP? Is there even a big deal in FCP? Sure, here is a bullet point list of the important features that make FCP score over Avid.

Are you one of those editors who constantly rearranges their window layout while editing? I certainly do. I’m forever changing the size of the Viewer and Browser. Do you yearn for a quick way to resize your windows back into a layout that makes sense?

AYUMI ASHLEY: COLORING THE LIE PART 2

Joshua had a very specific image for the way this film should look, so he had a lot to say once we got to Mark's basement (we did get to finish in luxury when Remedy Editorial generously let us use their big room for our last two days). When Joshua drove from LA to San Francisco, I had only balanced and matched shots, and had barely begun toying with a look.

Ghost Town Media is an LA-based production, editorial and VFX facility known for its music video and commercial work. In the past year, the facility has gained a huge following for a number of high-profile projects it has created for the band Linkin Park, including the trailer for a Linkin Park-inspired video game and the stage design and live show graphics for the band’s current "A Thousand Suns" tour, which kicked off on October 7 in South America.
