To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

3 Reasons Vulnerability Will Elevate Your Craft

September 15, 2015, 09:23 AM

http://daredreamermag.com/2015/09/15/3-reasons-vul...

This week I posted perhaps the most personal and vulnerable piece of content I’ve ever publicly shared online. It’s part 2 of my “Of Fathers & Filmmaking” episode of my podcast “Radio Film School.” In it I talk about how my relationship with my dad planted the seed for me to become a filmmaker. I talk about being the older son of a single mom during my formative years. And I have a particularly vulnerable moment I debated including in the show.

Although the show doesn’t officially end until tomorrow, this (essentially) is the LAST DAY of one of the most awesome media conventions around!  Sure, perhaps NAB (usually held in Las Vegas) is bigger, but the true internationals travel to Amsterdam every year for THIS particular showing!  There has been many opportunities for video interviews with […]

One of the features we miss the most in the old, discontinued Vector Paint effect for After Effects is the ability to automatically wiggle our strokes. Fortunately, you can recreate this look using a combination of stroked shape layers and the Wiggle Paths operator:

By Jerry Silverman We change. The way we learn, the way we work, and the way we communicate—these things are all in flux. But one thing never changes. People always like a good story. Today, we’re seeing a move away from dense text documents and lengthy spreadsheets. We’re seeking ways to communicate with people that take advantage of the technologies everyone has at their disposal, like responsive websites, faster browsers, and broader bandwidth. At the same time, we want to produce...
