It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Andrew Kramer started creating Adobe After Effects tutorials for fun, with no idea that his hobby would lead to an enormously successful and rewarding career. After starting his Video Copilot website when he was just 20 years old, he has become a highly respected professional in the visual effects and motion graphics industry. In addition to creating software and tools for professional designers, he also works in the film industry. No matter what he’s working on, he always finds time to tr...

By Adrian Winter I landed in Vegas just past noon, and arrived without incident at the Flamingo, America’s premier bird-themed Hotel and Casino. After a smooth check-in, I made my way over to the Las Vegas Convention Center for a look around before my first session of the week. Not many people have arrived for the show yet, or if they have, they are not hanging around the convention center. This actually made it somewhat difficult to get my bearings, as there weren’t any droves of peop...

Avid has been a Hollywood NLE platform for sometime. Now a new version is in the works and it’s free. What does this mean? The offering is still in the works and is scheduled for release later this year. I remember “Avid Free DV”. I think that’s what they called it. It didn’t really gain traction but I like to see Avid get aggressive and having a free version to get people in the door is a good move. Check out the FAQ to see what Avid is offering in Media Composer l First. Below are th...

It wouldn't be the Sunday night before NAB if there weren't leaked pictures of insane new Blackmagic cinema cameras floating about. In a few tweets from Matthew Allard, we get a sneak peak of what's going to be officially announced by Blackmagic tomorrow. And as seems to be a recurring trend, it looks like they're going to steal the show again.
