It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

This new class is designed around a small conformed sequence that you can take away. We will work through the project from start to finish not only looking at Resolve, but also using general colorist strategies. You will be able to keep the project and stills, a great way to continue your learning.

Resolution Independence is maybe one of the least talked about features of FCPX 10.1, however, if you do work in off-resoltions, its AMAZING!. In this episode of The Grill we talk with Stuart Moore about some of the ultra hi-res 360 degree video projects that he’s cut in FCPX and compare his workflow today with what it was just one year ago.

The opening to Bungie’s Destiny takes place where astronauts discover The Traveler, an object that gamers will encounter later as they play. Prologue worked with Bungie to deliver this cinematic and we found out from some of the key team – directors Simon Clowes and Ilya V. Abulkhanov, CG supervisor Lee John Nelson, producer Armando Plata and FX supervisor Alan McKay how they did it – including a surprising practical shot.

Up until recently, all the tutorials on Tuts+ (there are nearly twenty thousand!) had one thing in common: they were all published in English. And that’s strange when you think about it, because our community is nothing if not global.

At some point in the day, we all smash our fingers against some form of keyboard -- whether it's of the physical or virtual variety. In this week's Rewind, we take a look at how the keyboard's grown beyond its humble typewriter beginnings and taken on a life of its own.
