It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

If you're in need of some quick inspiration to help you get bigger beats from Native Instruments' Massive, ModeAudio can help. Critical Mass has drums a-plenty and G. W. Childs finds them banging.

Universal Audio say “Developed by the amp modeling gurus at Brainworx, the Chandler Limited GAV19T Amplifier plug-in is an exacting emulation of this ultra-responsive, dual EL84-powered boutique guitar amp. Inspired by British classics such as Vox and Marshall — and lesser-known gems from Watkins and Selmer — the Chandler Limited GAV19T Amplifier plug-in goes from supple clean textures, grinding blues tones, and rowdy distortions that gush with character.”

WD, of the Western Digital Company, released what I thought to be an outstanding addition to their line: a thunderbolt-powered dual hard drive that promised speeds of up to 233 MB/s. No additional cables, small, user-selectable RAID and fast? The My Passport Pro looked like it could easily be the road-version of my Lacie d2. But it’s more than that. It replaced my Lacie.

Fans of Pixar's Easter Eggs will certainly get a kick out of the new Disney Movies Anywhere exclusive video which explores some (not all) of the hidden items scattered throughout Pixar's movies. While watching the three-and-a-half minute collection of clips, keep your eyes pealed as the easter eggs go flying by - at the end, the video summarizes the hidden items presented so you can see how many you could spot.

I couldn’t go to NAB without stopping by and visiting the folks at Red Giant Software. Their big news was the launch of Red Giant Universe and I talked with Sean from Red Giant about just that. But I didn’t want to let the other stuff go by unmentioned either so a talk with Randon gets us some info on Bulletproof, PluralEyes and the new Instant 4K.
