It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

In this Cinema 4D tutorial, we will review the Advanced System Presets for Xpresso in Cinema 4D. These nodes fall under the Advanced Tab because they are more "advanced". If they were easy they would be under the Easy Tab. To be honest, this tutorial is a bit of an exploration of these nodes. I don't have all the answers. There are some functions written into the node that I just couldn't figure out. Most I figured out 80 to 90 percent but there are a few parameters that left me scratching my he...

Hot favourite to win big this year is 12 Years A Slave, which is up for Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay (John Ridley), Best Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Best Music (Hans Zimmer), and other gongs including Best Cinematography. However, the likes of American Hustle and Captain Phillips could give Steve McQueen’s drama a run for its money.

I am learning the cost of success is my attention. As I’m spending time working on building my new business, I wonder how I would I do this if I were married with children. I remember a TED talk of a lady encouraging career women not to pull back when they start thinking of having a family. For me, I only started to build a career because I was an awkward shy girl who didn’t have a boy to marry. At 19, I figured working and making money would keep me busy until I met the right guy. My outloo...

One of the things I really liked about Final Cut Pro “legacy” was the ability to create and customize numerous screen layouts. By rearranging its collection of tabbed and floating windows, it was easy to design and save numerous, task-specific, personalized screen layouts of the user interface. When I edit, I prefer to work on […]
