To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

After last year’s disgraceful presentation during the Oscars some of us in the VFX community we’re relieved to hear that the Academy would do a better job this year. Given that, my jaw dropped to the floor from what someone in our own community had to say about US vfx professionals.

http://www.videomaker.com/videonews/2014/02/5-tips...

The video editor sits downstream of any video production, and as a result, ends up being responsible for the most valuable part of any video production: the assets. The hard work of pre-production and production is seen in the footage that gets collected and placed into the trusted hands of the video editor. It's a big responsibility; a role that's essential to a video production and its success. The video editor has control over the entirety of what was shot, and sometimes even more. It's essen...

2014 BAFTA Award predictions

February 15, 2014, 08:23 AM

http://www.hitfix.com/in-contention/2014-bafta-awa...

On Sunday, the last major pre-Oscar televised event of the awards season take place -- the British Academy of Film & Television (or, you know, BAFTA) Awards. The UK's premiere film awards, held at the Royal Opera House in London, used to have very much their flavor, though they're growing more imitative and preemptive of the Oscars with each passing year. Could that make this year's winners list, however deserving, a teensy bit on the dull side, or are we due a re-emergence of BAFTA's quirkiness...

This is an old trick showed to me by Nigel Edwards at The Farm back in the days of PT5 when we were still being weaned off our AMS Audiofiles. It’s called multiple clipboarding.
