It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Heads up! The avant-garde Logic Pro X GUI modding clan has quickly caught up to the latest versions of Logic Pro X. New Logic Pro X skins, compatible with version 10.0.5 and 10.0.6, and even some modded plug-in interfaces (including the new Mid/Side Channel EQ that was introduced in Logic Pro X 10.0.5) are free to download. The days of Apple dictating what the Logic Pro graphical user interface should look like are over.

Had a really fun time on Monsters University pre-production. Fantastic crew. Most of the time was spent testing character rigs as they were being built so it was great to take a break to animate this rough animation test. Found the audio of some dude from Spain somewhere. The animation was also used to test early hair/cloth simulation.

Shane Reid edits commercials over at Whitehouse Post. You know like this one for Samsung, and that one for Subaru. Not to mention this one for Toyota. You may have seen this newly released epic ad for Duracell. Yup, he was behind that one. We got to know each other a few years back and I quickly discovered not only what a choice editor Shane is, but also how much he really loves every step of the process. It’s passion all the way through.

As delisting from the NASDAQ stock exchange looms in the Spring, Avid continues to make moves to shore up its executive structure, and has also hired a new audit and accounting firm to review it’s financial status as it prepares for what may be a last ditch effort to regain compliance to the FEC.

Every time I download a new version of Resolve I have to fill out the little questionnaire that asks me what features I’d like to see added quickly. I always write, “Add a waveform scale that reads in percentages!” And Blackmagic Design never does. I’ve asked several people at Blackmagic why they don’t add this Read More
