To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

If you use Adobe Premiere for post-production projects, then you may have come across the problem where the application re-conforms and recreates peak files for projects every time the project opens or when changing back to Adobe from using another application, i.e. hide/show.

Review: PixelConduit, VFX and More for FCPX

Back in 2005 Lacquer Software released a plug-in for Final Cut Pro through DV Garage called Conduit. It gave users a node -based interface for building complex effects from scratch. Development went silent for a short time, and now it is back as PixelConduit. Bigger and better than ever. It is not for everyone, but for those who need these sort of tools, it can be amazing.

Accelsior Now With eSATA! AND MORE!

One of the fastest upgrades you can make for your Mac is now available with 2 eSATA ports. I love cards that combine features, such as CalDigit’s eSATA/USB3.o card, as I’m always running out of slots on my Mac Pro. But like the CalDigit card, it looks like the Accelsior E2 doesn’t support port multiplication on the eSATA ports. Bummer.

For years the Production Premium version of Creative Suite gave you what you needed to author a complete video production. While it didn’t offer a specialized tool that could craft color with as much finesse as Photoshop, many were happy with what Premiere Pro offered in terms of basic color correction.

If you take a look at the size of your Autosave Vault folder it's likely huge. Mine is 4GBs right now. Every once in a while, when I think about it, I archive it off and save some space.

Continuing on this week’s focus on brief, but incredibly useful, video tutorials — today’s focus is on Squeeze’s Blur filter (something many of you may not be aware of). Once again, Kirk and Eric use their witty banter to be both instructive and entertaining.
