To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

How do I save title styles in the Title Tool?

August 15, 2012, 03:15 PM

http://avidassteditor.com/2012/08/15/how-do-i-save...

This is a great question because I embrace opportunities to reduce redundancies and creating titles can be a very redundant task! Once you create your title exactly as you like, click on the Save Style Parameter menu (the down arrow to the right of the Styles button on the Title Tool toolbar), and then select...

With the release of Mac OS X 10.8 (the word "Mac" has been struck from the name of the OS), an increasing number of apps requiring 10.7 or later, and the presumed end of Apple's support for 10.6, it's getting to the point where Mac users have to decide to make the jump, or remain forever on 10.6. I've spent the last two weeks systematically testing 10.8 in real-world scenarios, and I've got both good news and bad news, or, more precisely: the good, the bad, and the ugly...

In the world of content creation, nothing stands still for long. If you work in video production, you may be moving to a 4K or RAW video format. If you have a Creative Suite workflow, you may be considering a higher-resolution monitor with expanded color space. If you use an NLE, you may need to bump up the number of tracks or smooth your real-time scrubbing.

Just about anyone working in the film and video world will recognize the Tiffen name. Most know the company for its terrific lens filters and Steadicam brand. That's indeed what you'll find (along with a lot of other filmmaking and photography accessories) if you point a web browser to www.tiffen.com. But Tiffen also has another product category that should be of great interest to those in post-production at www.tiffensoftware.com. There you'll find a number of software products, including stand

Product Review: Magic Bullet Denoiser II

August 15, 2012, 03:06 PM

Today's DSLRs and HD Camcorders allow us to shoot at higher ISO and lower light scenarios than ever before - but with the smaller sensor sizes typical in prosumer cameras, this capability also introduces a great deal of noise. Thankfully, Red Giant has updated Magic Bullet Denoiser II (v 1.3) - available as a stand-alone plugin or part of the Magic Bullet Suite to help eliminate the noise while retaining the details.
