To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

AMERICAN HAUNTING...Weeks 3-4

July 20, 2012, 07:52 AM

http://lfhd.net/2012/07/19/american-haunting-weeks...

OK, this has been an odd couple weeks, as I took half a week off to vacation up at Lake Arrowhead, and then I had a tight tight deadline to get this show done.  But I'll keep this short and sweet too.  I'll mention the obstacles I faced, and how I solved them. OBSTACLE #1: The [...]

REVIEW: RAIDAGE GAGE

OK, time for another review for a hard drive enclosure: the RAIDAGE GAGE104U40SL-SAUF 1U 4 Bay RAID Enclosure from iStarUSA. This one is cool...it stands out. That's why, when the makers asked me to review the unit by commenting on a previous post, I leapt at the chance. Well, after first starting to compose...

Extrude: Free Final Cut Pro X effect

July 20, 2012, 07:47 AM

http://alex4d.wordpress.com/2012/07/19/extrude-fre...

As Extrude can only draw in the transparent parts of a clip, if the footage fills the clip, you must first apply an effect that adds areas of transparency. In the example above, I added my Alex4D Curve Scale effect that scaled down the clip to 80 Percent of its original size around a control point, adding an area of transparency around the footage...

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 PC VS MAC

I wasn't too surprised by the results and appreciate that Ozer explained his testing parameters so that users would be able to compare his benchmarks to their own. I wasn't expecting the stream of comments and bashing that ensued though from an individual who is a Final Cut trainer. I guess he is probably still upset at Apple for killing Final Cut Pro and replacing it with a consumer application called Final Cut X but he was a bit rude in his comments.

Brian King is a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering, and for the last several summers he's worked as an intern in Adobe's Creative Technologies Lab, an internal "think tank" where some of the technology that makes our products work like magic is developed. Brian's research led to the hugely popular Automatic Speech Alignment feature, also known as Rubbadub, which he initially previewed at Adobe's MAX conference in 2011.

Since the last issue of CineMontage went to press, Adobe Systems Incorporated has launched its much-heralded new version of the Creative Suite. Creative Suite 6 includes updated versions of all of Adobe's cross-platform products, including Premiere Pro, After Effects and Adobe Audition (as well as Photoshop, Illustrator and the rest of the applications that form the Master Collection).
