It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

I met Harry briefly at the A.C.E. Edit Fest in New York. Right after he talked I came up to him to see if he would be interested in being interviewed by me for the podcast. Luckily for us he was and we all get to share in his knowledge. In this episode we discuss how he got into the industry and how he helped to start a short film festival.

In this tutorial, Andrew Devis goes over the excellent and productivity-focused changes that have been applied to the project panel, including looking at the new 'Hover Scrub' feature and how to temporarily enable and disable its function as well as how to select 'in' and 'out' points directly on the footage in the project panel rather than having to take it to the source monitor.

As we mentioned awhile back, we've been busy the past year and a half creating an extensive, multi-course video training series based on our popular beginner's book After Effects Apprentice. Buried in the shuffle of the release of After Effects CS6 is that we concluded this series with a 3 plus hour course dedicated to that book’s Final Project.

CS6 is now shipping, though Cloud services and point product subscriptions are not available until May 11. CS6 trial applications good for 30 days are also available (with advice). CS6 Help is up, but for now it seems to have taken a few steps back, offering poor search results and no PDF.

I know what you all are asking yourselves: "What did Shane edit that NAB wrap-up video with?" Plenty of you asked on Twitter, and I know you WOULD have asked on my blog in the comments…but I offered up the information before you could. Because I knew you’d ask. So yes, I used Adobe Premiere CS5.5...
