It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

No video updates at the moment, my entire night was spent at the Eleventh Annual Las Vegas Supermeet, a meeting of the Creative Pro User Group Network, which is a gathering of editors and like-minded post people. Unfortunately the event was plagued by projection and sound problems (the in-house staff are the only people who can touch that stuff).

This has been one crazy show, I have counted more that 500 products that I have found interesting, inbetween working at the Aja booth and running / speaking at the Director of Photography Conference at Post Production World. I understand that some of my comments have been short but I will be filing a full report on technology and trends later this week. Unfortunately running on 4 hours of sleep a night do wear on your ability to communicate in a coherent fashion.

MOTO Inc is a relative stranger to the capture and playback market for video, so we thought we'd take a look at the new Thunderbolt equipped HDX-SDI.

I've been watching Blackmagic Design for a few years now, they are an amazing company. I've bought quite a few of their products and used even more. And at NAB 2012 they continued to surprise, what could the future possibly hold? And what's the deal with this crazy new camera?

I spent a day and a half on the floor of NAB 2012 (and a fun night at Media Motion Ball!). Here are some of the thoughts I had and things I'm excited about after visiting the exhibition floor.

I don't really speak any languages. I like to think I remember some of my cumulative 5 years of French, and because I'm half French, that I have a genetic predisposition to know it, but I'll be honest. I suck at it.

It's been an exciting week so far at NAB 2012 with several big news announcements issued at the show. On Sunday, during our global press event, we announced the largest showcase of integrated media production technology we've ever presented at NAB. We're featuring completely new and upgraded solutions for advanced asset-based workflows spanning distributed production, multi-platform distribution, server and storage, and broadcast graphics, demonstrating how customers in news, sports, TV, and pos...

AJA and Blackmagic Design have been going toe-to-toe for years, but at NAB 2012, it seems that Blackmagic has pulled ahead. Their booth is now front-and-center in the South Hall and it's packed. The new Blackmagic cinema camera is getting a lot of attention. Offering 2.5K resolution for a 3K price tag, this could be really cool. I hope the images it generates look better than the camera itself...it's channeling a 1990's era Kodak digital camera.
