It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

The blog that appears on these pages is intended to offer the points of view of BCM Principal Walter Biscardi, Jr., and some colleagues on what we see in the world of multimedia production and whatever else we feel like writing about. From the response we’ve gotten from many folks, it seems you enjoy what we do here.

The internal format of these presets is the same for Motion 5. That means you can copy the presets you'd like to use from inside Motion 4 to Motion 5.

No guesses to which piece of editing software the boys are talking about here. They start right from the beginning with what will hopefully be a series on Final Cut Pro X.

In this lesson, Kevin P McAuliffe shows you Media Composer's "Go To" effect, the 3D Warp, and how easy it is to create basic titles for your sequence. Then, to wrap it all up, he shows a great and often overlooked feature of the basic title tool, that will have you staying in your NLE to do most of your titling effects.

One bad feature of Final Cut Pro X, out of many, is that you cannot hide events. That's where Event Manager X comes in! The idea that you cannot hide certain events can be an issue, especially if you are working with clients. Say your clients are Pepsi and Coke. You don't want Coke to...

In this episode of "The Terence & Philip Show" Philip and I consider the concepts of editing introduced with Final Cut Pro X, and who it might be made for. Is it designed for "pros" or dilettantes? One thing is for sure, Philip doesn't like me using the word "Prosumer"!
