It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Paramount Animation took a successful first step with the critical and commercial success of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. Now, the next challenge will be to keep that momentum up and further solidify their status as a promising new face in the feature animation field. In this day in age, that will often mean giving your projects the time and the space that they need to make the most impact. Such is the case with their next film.

Seigi Sato presents Easy Atlas, a free tool that he developed for Maya (2014 and later). It allows to easily create textures atlas. These are very useful for video games as possible to reduce the number of draw calls, and thus improve performance. Easy Atlas uses Photoshop (at least from version CS3) to merge textures in the same atlas, and Maya to rearrange the UVs. The user can define the proportions of textures depending on the size of the different objects, and so the detail to give to every...

Autodesk Announces Meshmixer 2.9 , new version of its free tool to merge and edit 3D objects. If a number of innovations are at the rendezvous, the Advanced Master is the many editing tools rewriting so they finally manage textures . UV Specifically, you can use the functions sculpt, Remesh, boolean, erase, fill, reduce without destroying UVs. Autodesk provides a concrete example using Reduce to reduce the number of polygons of a 3D scan, while maintaining the original texture.

Here is another post featuring Madame Bonfamille from The Aristcats. I sort of have a thing about the film's opening sequence, which introduces the main human characters. Edgar, the butler, George Hautecourt, the lawyer, and Madame, all animated beautifully by Milt Kahl.
