To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

NAB 2012

Ever since entering the entertainment business as an adult (meaning after film school, because before, we had no idea what NAB was, nor had any money to make the trek to Vegas...), I've made an effort to see the show. Now, attending for my 15th year, I realize that the show itself is much like my experiences fishing with my dad. Early on, in both scenarios, it was a magical world.

We are a young and privately funded company. While we occasionally eat something other than ramen noodles, we have a pretty tight marketing budget. When we evaluated how to participate at NAB this year, we had to take a hard look at the return on investment of exhibiting.

Adobe really added some killer new toys to make money with in their newest version of Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro CS6 now comes with Warp Stabilizer, something we had to go into After Effects to use before. I can also now use unlimited cameras in their multicam settings, up from a 4. A new and beautiful UI.

Some interesting Q&A's on different products, including the new SpeedGrade: Q: Do I need a special graphics card to run SpeedGrade CS6? A: The SpeedGrade CS6 Lumetri Deep Color Engine is entirely GPU accelerated and requires a certified graphics card for optimum performance. Adobe recommends using an NVIDIA Quadro 4000, 5000, or 6000 graphics card.

The NAB Show, as I've mentioned before, to me, is a must do and see. There you can meet with all of your online social network peeps, learn things, see what's new in products and technology and just be engulfed in tech geek goodness.

Folks always ask me what to see at the NAB shows each year. Obviously most of my "must sees" revolve around Post Production since that is the main focus of me business, but I do try to walk the entire show at last once to see what's out there.

Just the first of several videos I'm working on to show off a few of my favorite new features of Premiere Pro CS6. This Transmit feature is a feature we've been working on for a quite a while to make it easier to integrate 3rd party hardware from partners like AJA, BlackMagic, Matrox, BlueFish and more.
