It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

We talk not of his taste in music (although Black Sabbath and Meshuggah may indeed grace his home stereo), but his audio designs. The latest proof is the company’s new VT-24 Four-Channel Vacuum Tube Microphone Preamplifier.

NAB 2014 has been over for about seven months now, and most people might be wondering why I am writing a review of Red Giant Universe now, as opposed to when it was first announced/released around the time of NAB. To be honest with you, the review I'm writing today is very different from the one I would have written then.

When the Disney strike of 1982 ended and the story artists returned to their respective work spaces in the animation building, Basil of Baker Street was still running along two sets of tracks. There were storyboards filled with gags and character bits, and boards filled with plot points.

Ridley Scott’s “Exodus: Gods and Kings” is every bit as extravagant as you’d expect, the epic story of Moses in Egypt now viewable through 3D glasses. But get ready for a spoiler: the Red Sea doesn’t open up like a zipper, the way it famously did in “The Ten Commandments” in 1956. Mr. Scott and his team decided to ditch the holy staff that Charlton Heston waved to part the waters for the fleeing Hebrew people.

I recently came across an interesting web site that is starting to sell sound effects. Now there is nothing new in that, there are many sites that do this both big and small. But what stood out was the speed of expansion and the number of independent sound effects libraries that are already on the site, so I decided to take a closer look at Sonniss.
